A statistical model for multipath fading channel responses
Abstract
A model for analyzing the effects of multipath fading in digital radio systems is presented. The model consists of a function which represents the frequency response of a fading channel, the joint probability density function for the three coefficients, and the average number of seconds per heavy-fading month for which this response applies. The model is derived from a large base of multipath fading data; the methods of data reduction and statistical analysis to obtain the model are outlined, and assessments are given of its validity and possible uses.
