New lasers based on transition metal complexes
Abstract
The purpose of this program has been to investigate the possibility that luminescent transition metal complexes (TM complexes) might serve as the basis for a new class of lasers tunable in the visible spectral region. At the beginning of the program, sufficient spectroscopic and photophysical data were available to permit calculation of threshold requirements for these new materials, and they were found to lie well within the range of conventional pump sources.
