Electron cyclotron emission from steady state inhomogeneous plasmas
Abstract
Electron cyclotron emission from steady state inhomogeneous plasmas is investigated. The emissive power of a weakly inhomogeneous plasma slab is derived without using the principle of detailed balance. The result obtained includes the plasma polarization effects, which are shown to be fundamental for the emission at the electron gyrofrequency. The special case of a relativistic isotropic Maxwellian distribution function with tokamak-like parameters is numerically investigated.
