Numerical solution of three dimensional flow problems by means of fast Fourier transformation
Abstract
An efficient method for the time independent numerical calculation of incompressible three dimensional flow was developed. As a direct linear solution the Fast Fourier Transforms were used at each iteration for the nonlinear partial differential equations. The NavierStokes equations were formulated as equations for vorticity and velocity. The flow in a driven cavity with combined free and forced convection was calculated as an example.
