High pressure studies of ionic conductivity in solids
Abstract
The pressure dependence of the ionic conductivity in crystal lattices is studied. Information about the volume relaxation associated with the formation of lattice defects as well as with the diffusive motion of these defects is discussed. Pressure results on a variety of crystals are discussed with emphasis on recent results on crystals with large lattice polarizabilities and soft phonon modes.
