Survey of fluid loop components: Radiator control unit
Abstract
The detail assessment, trade-offs and supporting discussion that demonstrates the preference for simple bypass control for a Spacelab radiator and for an experiment dedicated radiator system is presented. The thermal control of the radiator is a critical item to ensure both the reliability of the radiator loop and the thermal compatibility with the Spacelab control loops. The thermal performance assessment and trade-offs regarding bypass and regenerative heat exchanger types of radiator control are described. Component descriptions, Spacelab interfaces, and the programmatic aspects of a radiator control unit including a development plan for bypass and regenerative heat exchanger types of control are presented.
