Formation of polarization echo and polarization avalanche signals in nonpiezoelectric dielectrics
Abstract
A quantum-mechanical theory is developed for the coherent polarization effects that may occur not only in piezoelectrics but also in all physically inhomogeneous nonpiezoelectric dielectrics. An anharmonic mechanical oscillator combined with an electric dipole moment is adopted as the model, and the formalism of cyclotron and ferrimagnetic echoes is used in constructing the theory. It is shown that the adopted model can simultaneously describe both the polarization echo and the polarization avalanche. The polarization avalanche is visualized as a relaxation of oscillations in an initially compressed or bent body after removal of the external constraining force.
