The flow field behind an unsteady shock wave generated by an exploding spherical charge
Abstract
The paper deals with an experimental investigation and numerical analysis of the parameters of an unsteady shock wave and a flow field, both generated by an exploding compacted powder charge of spherical shape. The study is carried out for distances not greater than 20 charge diameters. The density distribution behind the shock wave was measured with a Mach Zehnder interferometer, the position of the shock front and the detonation products being recorded at various moments of time. The calculations are based on a detonation model, making allowance for the physicochemical transformations in the air behind the shock wave.
