Heat transfer in the vicinity of the stagnation point produced by impingement of a turbulized jet onto a baffle
Abstract
Experimental data are presented on the effects of the level of initial turbulence of an axisymmetric two-dimensional jet on heat transfer intensity near the critical point of a barrier as it is placed at different distances from the nozzle. The barrier was a Textolite disk 600 mm in diameter; heat fluxes were measured electrocalorimetrically. The possibility of using the relationship Nu/Nu-T = 1 + f(Re, Tu) (where Tu is determined with respect to the longitudinal component of velocity pulsations) for determining the intensification of heat transfer in a turbulent jet is examined. It is found that the values of Tu employed are inadequate for the universal correlation of these data.
