Analytical and graphical methods for the design of an elliptically shaped beam antenna with elliptical paraboloid reflector
Abstract
A study of an antenna having an elliptically shaped main beam is presented. The geometry of the reflector has led to the antenna being called an elliptical paraboloid reflector antenna. The reported results refer to the offset configuration. General graphical or analytical laws to simplify a first approximation synthesis of this antenna are discussed. Curves of the efficiency, ellipticity, and cross levels versus a normalized variable are plotted. This variable is strictly related to the maximum phase error on the aperture edge.
