Reliability performances of systems with a switching matrix
Abstract
A satellite model with an onboard switching matrix is examined in order to improve system reliability. An analytic method is used to predict the reliability of a satellite model with and without a switching matrix between receiving and transmitting equipment. It is concluded that the use of a switching matrix allows an increase in the complexity of transreceiving blocks and a reduction in the number of redundant units, which implies a mass and complexity reduction also for switching matrices on antenna ports.
