Microprocessing applications of subnanosecond masterslice arrays
Abstract
Subnanosecond biopolar masterslice arrays are examined, noting that they are an economic tool for the realization of a family of custom LSI circuits for ultra-high-speed data processing systems. Attention is given to three types of arrays, the LSI 24, LSI 36, and LSI 24 RAM, which offer up to 960 logic gate functions, as well as a 128-bit RAM. Finally, the advantage of a system-LSI implementation is shown by the application of these circuits, particularly a 50 MHz 4-bit microprocessor and an 8-bit microprogram sequencer, in a 32-bit ECL 100K processor.
