An automated HF signal measurement system
Abstract
An HF Measurement System at Cobbett Hill Radio Station is described. Measurements of signal strength and error rates of test transmissions made automatically under the control of a PDP8F digital computer are presented. The data are stored and subsequently analyzed to obtain, signal-to-noise, bit error temporal distribution, and fading morphology. Future expansion of the system is discussed and it is concluded that a large reduction in the workload of station operators and test staff can be realized.
