Environmental study of the interaction of two vortex rings having the same axis of symmetry
Abstract
Observations were made of two vortex rings produced by the same orifice, in the case where one overtakes the other. The relationship between the initial speeds (in a fluid) determines whether the rings coalesce or whether one passes the other. The resulting energy exchange is studied, and comparisons are made with theoretical calculations.
