Delay analysis of TASI with random fluctuations in the number of voice calls
Abstract
In this technical note we consider the performance of a voice communications system where the talkspurts of a conversation are buffered and multiplexed over the transmission channels. A mathematical model is given for the behavior of a talkspurt in the system when the voice calls are allowed to statistically come and go. A numerical analysis is conducted to determine the sensitivity of various system measures of performance to the presence of voice calls and to relate various measures of performance.
