Efficient numerical procedure for modeling antennas over lossy Earth
Abstract
A procedure is described which permits the direct use of the Sommerfeld integral in such a way that is fast, without compromising accuracy, and permits modeling antennas very close to the interface. An efficient interpolation technique is used to obtain the Sommerfeld integral values from a precomputed table. Also, the dominant singular component of the field is separated out and the integration of this component over the current is done analytically to permit evaluation for wires very close to the interface.
