A study of advanced power supplies
Abstract
Different approaches to the problem of satellite power supply were studied from a modular systems point of view in order to define a new generation of flexible, low cost power supplies. As a secondary goal, an increase in the competitiveness of European industry in this field is intended. Four different satellite application payloads were reviewed and from their requirements various subsystem configurations are proposed. Areas where the maximum reuse of hardware can be achieved were also identified. Results comprise the definition of each configuration for each mission to modular level, a schematic for each modular type, and preliminary specifications for these modules.
