Pressure gradient effects on laminar boundary layers at large Prandtl numbers
Abstract
An analytical study of the effect of pressure gradient on compressible, laminar boundary layers was made using the well known method of matched asymptotic expansions. Prediction of enthalpy gradient at the wall and recovery enthalpy using analytical expressions desired in this study agree with the exact numerical solutions to within 10% at a Prandtl number of 30, for instance. The enthalpy profile shows a hill-hollow behavior for the heat transfer case and an undershoot for the wall insulated case, which is almost but not quite, a mirror image of that for beta less than 1.
