Wave instabilities in space plasmas; Proceedings of the Symposium, Helsinki, Finland, July 31-August 8, 1978
Abstract
The proceedings focused on natural noise in space, plasma turbulence, nonlinear effects, and ionospheric F-region irregularities. Papers were presented on ELF and VLF noise intensity and spectra in the magnetosphere, effects of power line radiation into the magnetosphere, magnetospheric multiharmonic instabilities, theoretical aspects of electrostatic double layers, formation of double layers in laboratory plasmas, marginal plasma waves in the equatorial electrojet observed by HF coherent radar techniques, Siple station experiments on wave-particle interactions in the magnetosphere, nonlinear effects involved in the generation of Type III solar radio bursts, and a review of recent results on Spread F theory.
