Calculation of thermodynamicequilibrium compositions of chemically reacting systems
Abstract
A systematic approach to calculations of thermodynamicequilibrium compositions of chemically reacting systems, such as hydrocarbon fuels and rocket propellants, is presented. Attention is given to the equilibrium constant approach, free enthalpy minimization, and the equivalence of these two approaches. The methods are discussed in reference to carbon conversion, with a view to obtaining synthetic fuels, as well as in reference to thermochemicalequilibrium methods for investigating the combustion of rocket propellants.
