Kinetic theory description of flow over a cylinder at low speeds under constant force
Abstract
The problem of flow over a right circular cylinder is formulated and studied within the framework of kinetic theory of gases. The solution is then compared with experimental data for a large range of freestream Knudsen numbers, using the moments method with two sided distribution function to replace a model equation. The considered flow is moving under constant electric field in the radial direction. The moments equation is solved by the small parameter method. The obtained solution shows that the behavior of flow speed depends on these forces at infinity and is not effective near the cylinder.
