Turbulence statistics in a gas with broadly varying entropy
Abstract
The effects of significant heat transfer, resulting in large entropy fluctuations, were taken into account in a statistical analysis of turbulent flow of a nonreacting gas. The equation of state and a system of coherent state variables were set up for flows in which the boundary conditions are steady and for which the statistics can be studied in an arbitrarily small volume. Except for the continuity equation, the fictitious fluid does not obey conservation laws identical with those for physical fluids.
