Investigation of a superregenerative microwave Gunn-diode amplifier with self-modulated microwave oscillation
Abstract
Theoretical and experimental results are presented on a superregenerative Gunn-diode amplifier operating at a wavelength of 3 cm in the self-modulated microwave oscillation mode. The theoretical analysis is conducted on the basis of an equivalent circuit of the amplifier. Experimental results show that it is possible to obtain a gain coefficient exceeding 60 dB in such amplifiers for a noise factor of about 40 dB in a frequency band exceeding 300 MHz.
