Estimation of the noise immunity of reception of PCM signals on a pulsed-noise background
Abstract
A method is developed for estimating the rms error of reception of PCM/AM signals on a background of pulsed noise, either singular or grouped into packets. It is assumed that: (1) the moments of arrival of noise pulses are distributed according to the Poisson law; (2) the noise amplitude is governed by a log-normal distribution; (3) quantization noise can be ignored; and (4) noise effects are normalized at the output of the lowpass filter, which is assumed to be ideal.
