Calculation of the magnetic suspension of a superconducting sphere by the method of secondary sources
Abstract
Tosni's (1975) method of secondary sources for calculating magnetic fields is particularly well suited for magnetically piecewisehomogeneous bodies. The method consists of determining secondary sources, i.e., surface currents or magnetic charges, at the boundary of a magnetic medium by computeraided numerical solution of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. In the present paper, this method is applied to the calculation of the axial rigidity and the field distribution over the surface of a sphere for an axisymmetric suspension at fixed coil currents.
