Orientation of a solid body in a universal joint mounted on a rotationally stabilizable object
Abstract
The present analysis deals with the problem of uniaxial orientation of a body in a gimbal suspension, mounted on a spin-stabilized object. A program for controlling the angular motions of the body is developed which ensures that one of the body's axes will be oriented along a desired direction in inertial space. The response-optimal control system is synthesized, using Pontriagin's maximum principle.
