Investigation of the effect of oscillations of the free surface of a liquid on the motion of gas bubbles
Abstract
A mathematical model is developed for investigating the effects of free surface oscillations on gas bubbles in a gas-liquid mixture; the case of steady state bubble motions is examined. Theoretical results are confirmed by experiments involving longitudinal oscillations of a gas-liquid mixture in a cylindrical vessel. It is found that the dynamic behavior of bubbles depends on the oscillation mode of the free surface.
