Spontaneous breakdown of gauge and discrete symmetries in curved space-time
Abstract
The paper examines the spontaneous breakdown of gauge symmetry for a self-acting quantum scalar field in an open nonstationary isotropic metric. This is followed by a discussion of the spontaneous breakdown of P- and CP-symmetries in the interaction between a massless pseudoscalar field and a massive fermion field in an open space-time. Finally, it is shown that spontaneous breakdown can occur in quantum scalar field theory in Minkowski space-time in special non-Lorentzian coordinates.
