Measurement of rate of crack growth with progressive rupture sensors
Abstract
A relatively simple technique is proposed for assessing the error of strain-gauge measurements of crack length and rate of growth. The operation of the measurement circuit is based on recording with an electron oscillograph the changes in output voltage, caused by rupture of the strain-gauge threads by the propagating crack.
