The processes considered are the flow forced heat exchanger, the flow forced tubular reactor, and the wall temperature forced heat exchanger. The control algorithms, based on the steady state solution of the describing dynamic equation, exhibit good controlled response to changes of setpoint and load upsets in the presence of process parameter shifts. The variable sample time control algorithms are implemented via microcomputer on a laboratory flow forced heat exchanger. The control algorithm, when modified to include thermocouple dynamics, responds well to setpoint changes and unmodelled load upsets of varying pipe wall temperatures. The experiment data agrees well with the simulated data.
