The dynamic stability of permanent-magnet step motors
Abstract
The dynamic stability of open loop, constant voltage, permanent magnet step motor systems is examined. The mid frequency resonance region is highlighted. Analytical stability expressions are experimentally verified. A fourth order nonlinear model of a permanent magnet step motor is used. The model is linearized around a constant speed nominal trajectory. The resulting perturbed system is time varying. Techniques are presented for solving the perturbed system.
