Method for measuring the intensity distribution of intense laser beams
Abstract
A method is presented for reconstructing the intensity distribution of a laser beam from the thermal deformation field which arises at the mirror surface of a reflector. The key feature of the method is the use of a cooled mirror as a sensitive element; the mirror is a porous structure which makes it possible to stabilize the thermally deformed state of the mirror surface which arises during the measurements.
