Full-automatic radiopolarimeters for solar patrol at microwave frequencies
Abstract
The performance of fully automatic radiopolarimeters at 9.4, 3.75, 2.0, and 1.0 GHz is described. The receiving system features automatic operations in tracking the sun and in calibrating and attenuating the receiver gain. The antennas pointings correction, as well as the receiver gain calibration, is carried out, when necessary, every three hours to keep the pointing error less than 0.05 deg. The system is also characterized by an improvement of the receiver gain stability and easy access to computerized data.
