Nonequilibrium ionization in a laminar hypersonic boundary layer
Abstract
The laminar boundary layer of a multicomponent gas with small degree of nonequilibrium ionization is calculated. The boundary condition for ions is such that it takes into account a small region where quasineutrality near the wall is violated. An approximate analytical solution enables fast calculation of maximal concentration of charged particles in the boundary layer if a solution for the neutral components is at hand.
