Note: Directional Anisotropy of Magnetic Fluctuations in the Solar Wind and the Non-Linear Landau Damping of Alfven Waves
The effect of non-linear Landau damping of Alfvén waves on the anisotropy of magnetic fluctuations in the solar wind is examined. It is shown that the large anisotropy due to the wave propagation in the curved interplanetary magnetic field can be well suppressed and the observed near isotropy in the surface perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field can be explained.
