An Electromagnetic Cyclotron Instability in a Plasma with a Relativistic Component
Abstract
The cyclotron instability of circularly polarized transverse waves in a homogeneous, magnetoactive plasma with a relativistic component is discussed in a quasilinear approximation. By expressing a system of quasilinear equations for the instability in terms of the curvilinear coordinates defined in momentum space, we find a timeasymptotic solution of the equations and hence obtain the final spectral density of the oscillation energy.
