A mode-locked unstable Nd: YAG laser
Abstract
A passively mode-locked Nd: YAG laser has been operated in a p-branch unstable resonator configuration. Pulse durations of ≈35 ps were measured with peak single pulse energies up to 11 mJ. With a beam divergence of ≈250 μrad, this oscillator offers the possibility of irradiances greater than 10 14 W/cm 2.
