Power regulation and power balance in transistorized transmitter amplifiers
Abstract
The paper deals with various factors which must be considered when designing transistorized wideband power amplifiers. These are: (1) mismatching in the antenna circuit should not result in damage or destruction of the power semiconductor; (2) to prevent undesirably high levels of signal distortion especially during SSB operation, the output stage must not be too highly modulated; and (3) regulation must prevent frequency dependent variations of amplification power. Attention is given to the necessary power regulation as well as the heat which must be dissipated under consideration of design criteria and mismatched load.
