Solid state noise generators for radar performance monitoring
Abstract
The paper reviews the types of laws and requirements that maritime nations are introducing for control of the quality of radars fitted into ships that are registered with them. Attention is given to a noise generator considered the linchpin of a radar performance monitor. It is determined that this generator is less expensive than previous means, requires less volume to install, employs no moving parts, and can be employed in diagnosing trouble by registering separately the fall off in performance of the transmitter, receiver or aerial.
