Excitation of a periodic structure in an open resonator
Abstract
The dispersion characteristics of (1) polyspherical resonators with flat reflector covered by a comb-type periodic structure and (2) low-Q open systems consisting of a horn-type radiating antenna and a flat reflector with a periodic structure were investigated experimentally. Effective interaction of the electron beam near a periodic structure with harmonics up to the tenth in diffraction regime, and also with higher harmonics in TWT and backward-wave tube regimes, was observed.
