The detection of an X-ray outburst from the old nova GK Per.
Abstract
The detection of an X-ray outburst from the old nova GK Per at a time when the object had brightened optically by about 1 mag is reported. The outburst is interpreted in terms of an increased rate of accretion of material from the secondary via Roche-lobe overflow onto the white dwarf of the system.
