Theoretical foundations of laser saturation spectroscopy
Abstract
The book deals with the theory of modern spectroscopy methods based on saturation phenomena in laser-generated fields. The contour of absorption and emission lines in the presence of intense saturating fields are discussed, along with the influence of saturation on the statistical field distribution. Particular attention is given to the factors responsible for narrow resonances and to their structure in media with different line broadening mechanisms, such as elastic and inelastic collisions and the thermal motion of atoms.
