Calculation of the electromagnetic field in a gyrotropic spherical earth-ionosphere resonator when the source is located in the midlatitudes
Abstract
An analysis is presented of the spatial distribution of the radial component of the electric field in a spherical earth-ionosphere resonator with a gyrotropic upper wall; the source of oscillations is the vertical electric dipole. The geomagnetic field is described by the model of two half-hedgehogs. It is shown that the location of the source in the midlatitudes leads to a decrease in the gyrotropy effect on the field distribution as compared with the resonator excited by a source located in the equatorial region. The field in the case under consideration has only one node and is asymmetric in both the latitudinal and meridional directions.
