Properties of Fabry-Perot interferential filters illuminated in oblique incidence
Abstract
The properties of Fabry-Perot type interferential filters under illumination at oblique incidence have been calculated using an approximate matrix method yielding relatively simple expressions. The wavelength for which the filter displays maximum transmission for the two directions of polarization has been determined, and the transmission at neighboring wavelengths has been calculated. The same approach has been used to predict the structure of a multilayer device which will give optimal optical performance at a given angle of incidence. The results obtained by the approximate method have been verified using the exact analytical approach described by Berning (1963).
