Radiative-lifetime measurements for I i and I ii
Abstract
Delayed-coincidence measurements of radiative lifetimes have been made on 3 levels in the 5p(4)6p configuration of I I and 11 levels in the 5p(3)6p configuration of I II. Some of the levels are pertinent to the neutral iodine laser transitions and the He-I(+) laser transitions. For these measurements, a new excitation method has been developed in which a discharge plasma is utilized as an electron source.
