Study of the stability of a free-convection flow in a horizontal annular space
Abstract
The stability of the flow induced by free convection in a two-dimensional space limited by two horizontal coaxial cylinders has been studied through linear theory. The reference solution corresponding to the steady two-dimensional problem has been determined by means of the perturbation method. The critical conditions, for which three-dimensional phenomena occur, has been found by the Galerkin method and by solving the eigenvalue problem.
