Parameterization of the thermal relaxation rate in the stratosphere
Abstract
The thermal relaxation rate of large vertical scale disturbances in the stratosphere is parameterized in terms of the Newtonian cooling rate, the heating rate, and a transmission function that represents opacity effects.
