Investigation of nonlinear oscillations of a gas in open pipes
Abstract
The paper deals with an experimental study of velocity and pressure pulsations generated in tubes open at one end by the harmonic motion of a piston, in the linear and nonlinear resonance region. Oscillograms of the pulsations revealed the existence of pressure and velocity discontinuities along the tube length. The characteristics of and the relationship between the velocity and pressure pulsation are studied.
