The IUE spectrum of the YY Orionis star S CrA
Abstract
The present analysis deals with IUE observations of S CrA - the brightest known member of the YY Orionis subclass of the T Tauri variables. The application of the low-resolution UV spectrograms of S Cra, obtained by IUE, to the study of the UV spectrum of this extremely young object showed that both the observed UV line spectrum and the energy distribution can be at least qualitatively interpreted in terms of the protostar model of S CrA, derived from observations in the visible spectral range. Almost all spectra properties expected from this model are found to be present.
