Stability of Periodic PlanetaryType Orbits of the General Planar NBody Problem
Abstract
Some of the properties of the families of planar periodic planetary type orbits for the Nbody problem are discussed. For N = 3, degenerate orbits were continued to obtain nearly circular orbits, and some stability results are given. The restricted 4body problem was considered, where one of the planetary masses is negligible, and two periodic orbits with same resonance but differing in phase were found in an approximation of the sunMarsJupiterSaturn system.
